Gantt chart

  • Reading charts and reports

Definition

A chart that shows the tasks of a project as horizontal bars along a timeline, with each bar's position and length showing when the task starts and ends.

Example

ILLUSTRATION based on Raket Parts B.V. Raket pays external consultants for an ERP project (ledger account X-GL-6940). A Gantt chart of that project could show: design, January to March; data migration, March to June; testing, May to July; go-live, August. Overlapping bars show where teams work in parallel.

Raket Parts B.V. is a fictional company created for Insyt.
