Keyboard and mouse
  • Enter saves a cell and moves down. Tab moves right. Esc cancels.
  • Start typing to fill in the selected cell. F2 or a double click edits what is there.
  • While you type a formula, click a cell, drag over cells or click a column letter to put its reference in.
  • F4 while typing a formula adds $ signs to the reference at the cursor.
  • Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V copy and paste. References without $ move with the cells.
  • Ctrl + D fills down, and Ctrl + Z undoes. On a Mac use Cmd.
  • To use another sheet in a formula, type its name and !, like Customers!A:A, or click its tab while you type.
  • Commas or semicolons both work between the parts of a function.
