Definition
Replacing names or other identifiers with codes, while the key that links codes to people is kept separately. Pseudonymised data is still personal data for anyone who holds the key. A hashed email address is pseudonymised, not anonymous.
Example
Liberty Orbit could replace each farm customer's email with a code before analysis. While it keeps the lookup table, the coded data is still personal data.
Liberty Orbit Inc. is a fictional company created for Insyt.
