Targets, progress and status
OKR progress display
Shows progress on key results grouped under their objectives.
- Indicator
- Progress
- Strategy alignment
What it answers
How are key results progressing toward objectives?
- Shape
- Objectives with key-result bars
- What it shows
- Progress and uneven delivery.
Example
The question
How are we doing on this quarter’s objectives and key results?
Q3 objectives and key results, progress
Illustrative data. It belongs to no company.
When to use it
Use it when
Tracking measurable objectives and key results.
Avoid it when
When incompatible key-result units are summed without an agreed rule.
How to read it
Read each key result's baseline, current value and target before any objective summary.
Note
Define aggregation and weights for any objective-level total.
The data you need
- Layout
- Long table
- Fields
- ObjectiveID: text; KeyResultID: text; Current,Start,Target: numbers
- One row is
- One key result associated with an objective. What is the grain?
- Rules
- Specify increasing versus decreasing goals and progress calculation. State weights for objective aggregation.
- Optional
- Owner,Weight,Unit,DueDate. Do not sum incompatible raw units.
- Preparation
- Calculate progress using each key result's baseline and target; define decreasing goals and objective aggregation weights.
- Units
- Progress often uses(Current-Start)/(Target-Start), with direction and weights defined per key result. Raw units can differ.
Worked example
KR1 start 40, current 70, target 100 gives 50% of the required improvement. KR2 start 10, current 8, target 5 gives 40%; weight any combined score explicitly.
| ObjectiveID | KeyResultID | Current | Start | Target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| O1 | KR1 | 70 | 40 | 100 |
| O1 | KR2 | 8 | 10 | 5 |
