Sankey diagram

  • Reading charts and reports

Definition

A flow diagram in which bands connect stages or categories and the width of each band is proportional to the quantity flowing along it.

Example

Raket Parts B.V. enquiries in 2025: of 328, 169 ended without a quote and 159 were quoted. Of the 159 quotes, 101 became orders and 58 expired. In a Sankey diagram the band from enquiries to "no quote" is the widest, showing the biggest leak at once.

Raket Parts B.V. is a fictional company created for Insyt.
